Release Day for Avenging Angelenos

Today is the publication day for the digital version of the Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles anthology Avenging Angelenos! The print version will be available in the coming days.

I was lucky enough to be co-editor of this short story collection and couldn’t be prouder of the eleven writers we chose to be included in this anthology. The theme if you haven’t guessed is revenge and the stories we selected vary widely from historical to otherworldly. The introduction is by Frankie Y. Bailey, a prolific mystery writer and criminal justice professor.

Editing these stories was very rewarding and I thoroughly enjoyed working with these talented writers. I also owe a lot to my fantastic co-editors, Wrona Gall and Pamela Samuels Young, and of course to Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles for giving me this opportunity.

And what a gorgeous cool cover!

Hope you enjoy!

With an introduction by Frankie Y. Bailey and eleven original stories by: Avril Adams, Paula Bernstein, Hal Bodner, Jenny Carless, LH Dillman, Gay Totl Kinman, Melinda Loomis, Kathy Norris, Peggy Rothschild, Meredith Taylor, and Laurel Wetzork.

Sisters in Crime / LA library panel Thursday Oct. 10

I’ll be on a Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles panel at the Venice Beach Library on Thursday 10/10 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Venice Beach Library, 501 S. Venice Blvd., Venice, CA 90291

It’s called the “Funny Side of Murder” and since I don’t really write what most consider “humorous” mysteries, then I must be representing the darker side of humor. At least that’s what I’m going with! It will be moderated by Sisters in Crime / LA president Anne Louise Bannon and also features Ellen Byron and Nancy Cole Silverman.

Hope to see you there!

Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles panel at Pasadena Library

I’ll be speaking at the Sisters in Crime / LA panel at the Pasadena Central Library on Thursday, September 13 at 7pm. This is a panel featuring 11 of us writers in the latest SinC/LA anthology The Last Resort.

Hope to see some of you there!

LAST RESORT Town Hall Reading at Vroman’s

Today sixteen contributors will read a brief excerpt from their story in the latest Sisters in Crime / LA anthology, LAST RESORT. That’s every single contributor! Plus two editors will be there along with our chapter prez. I’ll read a brief excerpt from “Nut Job” as well as answer any Q&A our chapter prez throws at us. It should be a fun time and I’m excited to check out a new bookstore. Can you believe I’ve never been to Vroman’s? Yeah, me neither.

Hope to see you later today at 4pm!

LA TIMES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS POST WRAP-UP

What a fun weekend despite the rain on Saturday (and Basil computer breakdowns but that’s a different story entirely). It didn’t deter the book-loving crowds though! I had a blast hanging out with signing mates Lida Sideris, Tammy Kaehler, James Ziskin, and Nancy Cole Silverman at the Sisters in Crime booth. It was great to re-connect with old friends and meet new mystery lovers.
