Composite Sketch at BOLO Books

Today I’m featured on one of my favorite segments: the Composite Sketch at BOLO Books! I was so thrilled when Kristopher asked me to participate. I always enjoy reading these little known facts about people in the crime fiction community. I had a lot of fun answering the questions. Thank you, BOLO Books!

Cover Reveal for The Swamp Killers

BOLO Books hosted the cover reveal of the upcoming novel-in-stories that E.A. Aymar and I co-edited. The Swamp Killers is coming to you on March 16, 2020 with Down & Out Books! I’m so excited for this one. It’s most of the same crew from The Night of the Flood with the addition of some new writers.

THE SWAMP KILLERS: A Novel in Stories

Here’s what we know is true.

Timmy Milici, a low-level hitter with the infamous Atlanta-based Duplass crime family, ran off with Melody Duplass to Jacksonville, Florida. Olivia Duplass, her mother and head of the Duplass family, was incensed, and put a price on Timmy—a hundred thousand for his corpse, but with explicit instructions that her daughter not be harmed.

We know that’s true.

Or, at least, we think we do.

Sixteen writers tell their versions of what happened those fateful days in this gripping novel-in-stories, brought to you from the team behind The Night of the Flood.

Contributors: E.A. Aymar, Sarah M. Chen, Hilary Davidson, Alex Dolan, Rebecca Drake, Gwen Florio, Elizabeth Heiter, J.J. Hensley, Susi Holliday, Shannon Kirk, Tara Laskowski, Jenny Milchman, Alan Orloff, Tom Sweterlitsch, Art Taylor, and Wendy Tyson.

BOLO Books Reviews MURDER-A-GO-GO’S

BOLO Books takes a look at Murder-A-Go-Go’s and includes my story “Fading Fast” as one of his favorites.

“Sarah M. Chen also provides a timely story that will stick with readers long after the final word. ”

I was inspired to write this story after I read about a young couple who sought revenge against a man who abused her. The justice system failed her as it does for so many victims of sexual assault and abuse.

I’m so excited for this collection to come out and it’s only in one more week! Edited by Holly West and includes such talented authors like Lori Rader-Day, Hilary Davidson, and Patricia Abbott. With a foreword by Jane Wiedlin herself!

THE NIGHT OF THE FLOOD makes BOLO Books’ 2018 Top Reads

So excited to see BOLO Books come out with their Top Reads of 2018. It’s always a treat to see which books make Kristopher’s list. I always learn of must-read books so it’s great for holiday shopping (for myself too!).  But it was even more special to see The Night of the Flood as Top Anthology of the Year. Thank you, BOLO Books!

BOLO Books reviews The Night of the Flood

The reviews for The Night of the Flood are coming in! Kristopher Zgorski over at BOLO Books offers a thorough and thoughtful review for our “novel-in-stories” collection, to be released March 5 by Down & Out Books!

“The Night of the Flood is an impressive collection of stories from some of the most talented writers working in the crime genre today. The intertextuality amongst the stories is truly impressive. The subtle – and sometimes blatant – references between these works will warrant and reward multiple readings of The Night of the Flood. As Hank Phillippii Ryan states in her introduction: it is impossible to know how this idea was organized, but we readers also don’t want to know. We would rather think of it as magic and hope that these authors brew up another set of interconnected tales again sometime in the future.”
