The Advocates: Maddie Margarita

Today’s my first post as an official member of Murderers’ Row over at The Thrill Begins. And I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than paying tribute to someone who has done so much for the crime fiction community. The Advocates series is a wonderful feature where each of us write about someone who has supported or championed writers whether it’s bookstore owners, bloggers, or organizations.

For my piece, I chose Maddie Margarita, the hard-working host and producer of Lit Up! OC. Find out why: The Advocates: Maddie Margarita

Wicked Cozy interview

Today, Ed Aymar and I are being interviewed by Alan Orloff, a The Night of the Flood contributor. Thank you to Sherry Harris over at the Wicked Cozy website for making this happen!

And yes, Ed and I are still talking about this “novel-in-stories.” But this interview isn’t the same old, same old. Toward the end, we discuss our upcoming project with a similar “novel-in-stories” approach. It will have most of the same authors as Flood, plus a few new ones.

AND if you leave a comment at the end of the interview, you are entered to win a free copy of The Night of the Flood!

Alex Segura’s Stuff & Nonsense newsletter

A big thank you to author Alex Segura for inviting Ed and I to chat about The Night of the Flood in his latest Stuff & Nonsense newsletter. We list 6 things we learned editing this anthology…and one thing I never did learn.

The newsletter also featured an essay from author William Boyle and his new book, The Lonely Witness, that will be out May 1, 2018.  It sounds right up my alley and I don’t know why I haven’t read him before.

If you’re not reading Alex Segura yet, you should be. His latest Pete  Fernandez book is coming out soon from Polis Books. You can preorder Blackout here!

More The Night of the Flood stuff!

Only 3 more days until the release of The Night of the Flood and so far the buzz has been great! Here are just a few of the most recent reviews , blurbs, and interviews…

“Plenty of complex characters and hard edges. Take a breath, then hang on and enjoy this entertaining romp.” —Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author

“Bravo to all the authors who contributed to The Night of the Flood, a collection of brilliant short stories about residents of the dysfunctional town of Everton who are thrust into the turbulence of decisions that will forever change who they thought they were. A stormy page-turner that will leave you wanting more.” —Sandra Brannan, author of the award-winning Liv Bergen Mystery Series

“A brilliant, multi-leveled concept, Faulknerian in its structure. A novel in stories. Wow. Fourteen exciting crime writers create a rare three-dimensional mosaic of a doomed town and the night hell flooded through it. Terrifically exciting. Wonderfully inventive.” —David Morrell, New York Times bestselling author of Murder As a Fine Art

“A brave concept brilliantly executed.” —Lee Child, bestselling author of the Jack Reacher Series

Ed Aymar and I did an interview with author Basil Sands over at The Big Thrill, the International Thriller Writers Organization magazine. It was a lot of fun and as usual, Ed had a new author pic that will make you chuckle.

“Up Close: E.A. Aymar and Sarah M. Chen”

Foreword Reviews gave The Night of the Flood a great review!

Check out the review over at Foreword Reviews!

And lastly – and I’ve saved the best for last – we have a cool book trailer! I’ve never had a book trailer before (probably because I have no idea how to do one and apparently, Ed has people) and this one is awesome! Check it out:

One Bite at a Time interview with Dana King and E.A. Aymar

I’m up live today talking about, what else? THE NIGHT OF THE FLOOD of course! Its big release date is less than two weeks away and I’m thrilled with the amount of buzz it’s generating already. I guess it helps to pester people to interview us. 🙂

Seriously, though, everyone has been so generous with the interviews and guest blogs about our upcoming anthology. Not only with Ed and I but the other contributors as well. We’re everywhere!

So if you want to check out the latest interview about how we all collaborated, our editorial process, and why Pennsylvania was chosen for the setting, be sure to go on over to author Dana King’s blog, One Bite at a Time. And I guarantee, at the very least, you’ll appreciate the photos. I know I did.

Ink-Quisitions with Jesse Rawlins

I’m up today chatting with Jesse Rawlins over at Story & Grit. Jesse is launching a new feature called Ink-Quisitions where she interviews various crime fiction authors. And I’m her first victim! It was a lot of fun as we discussed FINN, my contribution to the Johnny Cash collection, “Missouri Waltz,” and my favorite South Bay eats.

Check it out!

Book Bites Interview with author Steph Post

I’m up today on Steph Post’s blog where she features mini interviews with authors. It’s called Book Bites: Short and Sweet Interview for Readers on the Go. I answer 5 questions and if you’re curious what research didn’t make it into FINN, come check it out!

And if you’re looking for a great Southern crime fiction noir, check out Steph’s latest release, WALK IN THE FIRE. Just got my copy and I can’t wait to dig into it.

BOOK BITES – Thank you, Steph!

There’s also a nice mention of THE NIGHT OF THE FLOOD!

Daly Prose blog

I’m up live today on fellow crime fiction author Charles Daly’s blog where I talk about FINN and setting crime fiction stories in the South Bay. We met on Twitter and I’m still amazed at the power of social media. The post looks cool and I love the way he laid it out with the quotes he pulled. Thanks, Charles Daly! And thank you Twitter!
