I’ll be speaking on a short story panel this Saturday, July 17 at 10:00am PST for an awesome literary festival celebrating storytelling. It’s my first event for 2021 and it’s free to register!
I’ll be on with Steph Cha and Nikki Dolson with Ed Aymar moderating.
This discussion will focus on the state of short stories in crime fiction, its past and how social changes are affecting theform. Steph Cha was recently the new editor of the celebrated series, the Best American Mystery Stories, and her stewardship promises to bring forth an exciting new era in crime fiction. And Sarah M. Chen and Nikki Dolson are both celebrated practitioners of short fiction who can discuss the history of the form and what the future promises.
Tonight I’ll be reading along with 5 other authors at Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles’s virtual reading series. There will even be a cocktail recipe! It’s an awesome lineup that includes Kellye Garrett, Paula Bernstein, Jennifer Dornbush, Laurie Stevens, and Pamela Samuels Young!
Venice Beach Library, 501 S. Venice Blvd., Venice, CA 90291
It’s called the “Funny Side of Murder” and since I don’t really write what most consider “humorous” mysteries, then I must be representing the darker side of humor. At least that’s what I’m going with! It will be moderated by Sisters in Crime / LA president Anne Louise Bannon and also features Ellen Byron and Nancy Cole Silverman.
LitFest Pasadena is this weekend! It’s a great event filled with all kinds of literary happenings around Pasadena. I’ll be participating at the Noir at the Bar on Saturday night from 7:30 to 8:30 at The Stand. Looking forward to hearing some great readings and seeing folks I haven’t seen in a while! Hosted by Eric Beetner and S.W. Lauden of course. Hope to see you there!
My first event of the year will be on January 31st at 7:30pm. I’ll be at The Last Bookstore in downtown LA along with Eric Beetner, Roger Angle, and Gray Basnight. We’ll be discussing our latest crime fiction novels. I’ll have copies of The Night of the Flood on hand.
I’ll be speaking at the Sisters in Crime / LA panel at the Pasadena Central Library on Thursday, September 13 at 7pm. This is a panel featuring 11 of us writers in the latest SinC/LA anthology The Last Resort.
Hope to see some of you there!
