Noir at the Bar Seattle

In 3 days, I’ll be in the Emerald City to read at my first Noir at the Bar in…well it’s been a while! At least for an in-person one.

I was supposed to fly up to Seattle in April 2020 to read, and well, we all know what happened then.

So I’m really excited to meet up with some of my crime fiction cohorts in person and listen to tales of betrayal and heartbreak. I’m going to read a little something that’s inspired from my YA thriller Girl Code. At least that’s the plan. It’s still a work-in-progress so we’ll see how it goes!

La Di Dada Event

Today is the Maintenant 15: Humanity Reboot Dada event in DTLA!

It’s in Grand Park from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, October 13. I’ll be attending virtually through Zoom, but if you’re in the area and would like to see the performers live, you should check it out!

Otherwise, you can view the livestream on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/threeroomspress

I’ll be reading from my story “Safe Mode” about Words going on strike.

Hope to “see” you there!

1455 Literary Summer Festival

I’ll be speaking on a short story panel this Saturday, July 17 at 10:00am PST for an awesome literary festival celebrating storytelling. It’s my first event for 2021 and it’s free to register!

I’ll be on with Steph Cha and Nikki Dolson with Ed Aymar moderating.

This discussion will focus on the state of short stories in crime fiction, its past and how social changes are affecting the form. Steph Cha was recently the new editor of the celebrated series, the Best American Mystery Stories, and her stewardship promises to bring forth an exciting new era in crime fiction. And Sarah M. Chen and Nikki Dolson are both celebrated practitioners of short fiction who can discuss the history of the form and what the future promises.

Sisters in Crime / LA library panel Thursday Oct. 10

I’ll be on a Sisters in Crime / Los Angeles panel at the Venice Beach Library on Thursday 10/10 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Venice Beach Library, 501 S. Venice Blvd., Venice, CA 90291

It’s called the “Funny Side of Murder” and since I don’t really write what most consider “humorous” mysteries, then I must be representing the darker side of humor. At least that’s what I’m going with! It will be moderated by Sisters in Crime / LA president Anne Louise Bannon and also features Ellen Byron and Nancy Cole Silverman.

Hope to see you there!

Not Your Average Thriller at the Last Bookstore

Event Alert!

My first event of the year will be on January 31st at 7:30pm. I’ll be at The Last Bookstore in downtown LA along with Eric Beetner, Roger Angle, and Gray Basnight. We’ll be discussing our latest crime fiction novels. I’ll have copies of The Night of the Flood on hand.

It’s a ticketed event which basically means it’s the price of the book (and yes, that includes a copy of the book).

Hope to see many of you there!
